Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 17, 2026
LakerVoice is a community information assistant for residents of Highland Lakes in Leesburg, Florida. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it plain, because it should be readable by the people it applies to.
Who we are
LakerVoice is operated by OffGridComms. If you have any questions about this policy or your information, contact us at privacy@lakervoice.com, or reach the Highland Lakes office at (352) 365-1457.
What we collect
We collect only what we need to run the service:
- Information you give us when you sign up: your name, your address within the community, your email address, and — if you provide it — your phone number.
- Your choices: whether you have asked to be listed in a future resident directory, and whether you have opted in to receive text message alerts.
- Questions you ask, and the answers you receive: we keep a record of the questions you type or speak and the answers the assistant gives, along with your account, so that we can find and fix wrong or unhelpful answers. This is how the assistant gets better: when something comes back wrong, we need to see exactly what was asked and exactly what was said. We do not use these records to build a profile of you, and we do not sell or share them. Only a super administrator can read an individual resident’s questions and answers; other administrators see totals only, such as how many questions were asked or which ones nothing could answer.
- Basic technical information needed to keep you signed in and to keep the service secure and working.
Voice
When you use the voice feature, your spoken words are converted to text by your own device's built-in speech recognition. LakerVoice receives the text of your question, not a recording of your voice. We do not store audio recordings.
How we use your information
- To answer your questions about the community.
- To send you sign-in links so you can access the service.
- To send you community news, activity reminders, and emergency alerts — only if you have opted in to those messages.
- To keep the service secure, working, and improving.
Text messages
If you opt in to text alerts, we use your phone number to send you community and emergency messages and activity reminders. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies. You can stop text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message; reply HELP for help. Opting out of texts does not affect your ability to use the rest of the service.
Mobile information and text messaging consent are not shared with, sold to, or otherwise provided to any third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. No mobile information — including your phone number, your opt-in, and your consent to receive messages — will be shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes under any circumstances. The only parties that ever handle your phone number are the service providers that deliver the messages on our behalf (see below), and they may use it solely to deliver our messages to you.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your mobile information or messaging consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We share information only in these limited ways:
- Service providers who help us operate — for example, our hosting provider, our email delivery provider, and (for text messages) our SMS provider. They may only use your information to provide their service to us, never for their own marketing.
- The assistant's answer engine: to answer a question, the text of that question may be sent to a third-party AI provider to generate a response. This is used to answer you, not to advertise to you. Your phone number and messaging consent are never sent to this provider.
- If required by law or to protect the safety of residents.
- The resident directory — only if you have explicitly opted in — would show your listed details to other verified residents. This is your choice and you can change it at any time. Your phone number is not included in the directory unless you separately choose to list it.
How long we keep your information
We keep your account information for as long as you have an account. If you ask us to remove your account, we delete your personal information, except where we must keep limited records (for example, proof that you consented to text messages, or records we are required to keep by law).
Your choices and rights
- You can ask to see, correct, or delete your information at any time.
- You can opt out of text messages any time by replying STOP.
- You can change your directory listing choice at any time.
- You can ask us to close your account.
To make any of these requests, contact privacy@lakervoice.com or the community office.
Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls, and sign-in links rather than passwords. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information and limit what we collect in the first place.
Children
LakerVoice is intended for adult residents of a 55+ community and is not directed to children.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes, we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, let residents know within the service.
